Guyana Cultural Fest: Maryland

Guyana Music Fest: :(
I'm not going to lie to you. I love my Guyanese people and my Guyanese artists, but last night at the Guyana Music Fest I was so disappointed I actually became pissed off, not just annoyed PISSED.
The venue was a disappointment, a &%#$& high school cafeteria!!! We bring our International artists to perform in a high school cafeteria?? Not even in the audiotorium on a stage!! Terry n Kwame you wrong, wrong, wrong!! That's a disrespect to the artists, you've got 1 whole year to find a better venue befitting of the artists. To Adrian, Jumo and especially Natural Black, you tek disrespect so easily. What a shame!
I paid $40 to go into a high school cafeteria, in the middle of winter, 13 degrees outside, me dressed in my Siberian grade coat and NO COAT CHECK! What is wrong with these people, why does it have to be so sub-standard? By the time I got there at 1am, there was no ice, at the make-shift bar!
The stage was about 1 foot off the ground. If you were not in the front then you didn't want to see the show. There was a projector/screen on the side but it was inadequate, I've seen wider screens tvs in ordinary people's homes.
I'm just so disappointed in the whole thing. It left a very sour taste in my mouth. Showtime was suppose to be 12:30am, the first artiste didn't come on the stage til about a quarter to 2am. This stupid forumla doesn't work, waiting until the wee hours of the morning for these artists to perform. What's the reasoning behind that? Back to the timing, they waited so long to start, then they were hurrying artists off the stage.
I finally gave up at about 3:15. Adrian and Jumo was on stage, but I was in the back trying to crane my neck to watch the "projection." I left before their performance ended, I never got to see the main attraction, Natural Black. Last year his performance was eclectic, it brought the house down. Though the sound wasn't up to par last year, it was still better but still left much to be desired.
Guyana on the whole has a long way to go. They think they can just call a Guyanese affair and Guyanese people will come. Guyanese are so accustomed to mediocrity that they settle for anything, this whole event was just disappointing, there's so much room for improvement. Get a clue people, rise and shine. My suggestion: C-Pac for the next event, at least the got a proper stage and sound system.
Also, why was there no female artist there? The best performance for me was H2O, out Wild reggae Indian. He seems to take his art very seriously. Next time drop that other dud DJ aneel/aneez whatever his name is, he's like Dj Prakz, unimaginative. Also Redemption was good and has come a long way from the first time I saw him perform.

Coming to America
Adrian, Jumo and Natural Black are coming to perform at the 3rd Annual Guyana Music Fest. I was there last yr and it was loads of fun. The sound was not very good and I was a bit embarassed for my fellow Guyanese, but it was still a nice hang. Despite all that, there was a very electrifying perfomance of It Nice by Natural Black. The venue is suppose to be better this yr. I don't know if I'll be there yet but I hope to be.
